The brain is the body's control center. Housed in
the bony skull, it floats in a pool of cerebrospinal fluid, which
gives extra protection by absorbing shock waves.
The brain is comprised of three main parts. The largest, the cerebrum,
is divided into hemispheres. The cerebellum, at the rear
of the brain, is also made up of two tightly folded halves. The brain stem connects the brain to the spinal cord.
The brain communicates to the rest of the body through the cranial
nerves and the spinal cord. |
